EXPOSE BY MANDI LAN
“I think different people have their own ways to express, some through writings, paintings, music or performances, etc. I find myself more expressive and more able to contribute my creativity in fashion/textile design.”

Mandi Lam just finished her BA Fashion & Textile Design, Knitwear Design with Technology Specialism, in Hong Kong. Her graduate collection ‘e x p o s e’ is based on her perspective on the ever-changing world. She altered the shape and texture of knitted fabric by applying coatings with prints and acrylic to express the story. This innovative application of knitted fabric brought her the Best Use of Merino Wool Award sponsored by the Woolmark Company.

E x p o s e is about revealing and acknowledging in a macro context. It is provoked by the complex. Hidden matters, muted beliefs and underlying voices are being brought or about to be brought explicitly. There the space exists both tangibles and intangibles, exposing at the same time. It concerns the significance of juxtaposition. Knitted loops are revealing from the knitted fabric as a metaphor. Our eyes are the microscopes, intensifying and discovering beyond the tangibles.
