Kim De Molenaer‘Hellenic / Nostalgic’
25 February – 14 April 2018

Eduard Planting Gallery in Amsterdam presents the first solo show in The Netherlands of Belgian fine art photographer Kim De Molenaer. The gallery shows a selection of black & white photographs with Greece as a decor. The artistic images reflect the beauty of the country through historical, mythological or architectonic references. The exhibition ‘Hellenic / Nostalgic’ runs from 25 February until 14 April 2018.

The photographer captures his human subjects in moments of vulnerability, either staged or improvised, and places emphasis on the forms of the human body. Inspired by Sally Mann, Jock Sturges and Robert Mapplethorpe, De Molenaer shows an artistic appreciation for the naked body, using contrast to accentuate shadow and form.

Kim De Molenaer (1986) currently lives and works in Antwerp and Athens. For more than ten years, he was the first assistant to the internationally acclaimed photographer Marc Lagrange. The autonomous work of De Molenaer has been showcased at art fairs such as Accessible Art Fair, Antica Namur, Fotofever Paris and PAN Amsterdam.
